
| Education Ciuin is currently working on a BA in Rromani Studies and another in History with three certificates, one in Museum Studies, one in Human Rights, and another in Native American Studies at the University of Iowa. She has been studying the Rromani Holocaust for over twelve years, interviewing survivors and spending countless hours in libraries all over the country. She has written materials and guides for classes for teachers, and has been working as a guest lecturer since 2005. Besides her work as Educational Director at O Porrajmos Education Society, Ciuin serves on the board of the International Academy for Russian Music, Arts, and Culture, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing Eastern European culture to Iowa. She is also on the Daily Board for World Artists Initiative Khetanes, a Rromani based organization in Europe specializing in achieving human rights through art, writing, and film projects. Other Projects As a writer, Ciuin has one novel completed and three books in progress. Petty Theft, currently on the editor's desk in Philadelphia, is a work of historical fiction about a Rromani man's survival during World War II. The End of the Gypsy Trail is the history and mystery of the "Gypsy Cemetery" in Algona, Iowa. She is also working on the story of the Kolpakov Trio a prominent Rromani family of musicians in Russia who recently toured with Madonna. The final work, as yet untitled, is a work young adult fiction. |
